• I downloaded the plugin Cart66 Lite and all seems to be working okay except for the sales tax on the checkout page which shows the cart item, subtotal, tax and total in the shopping cart but when I click on the Paypal check out button and it redirects me to the paypal checkout, the total is missing the sales tax. I even changed the sales tax to all states and even did that in my Paypal profile area. I installed the Paypal API username, password and signature under Paypal settings in my Cart66 Lite. This is tested with the unchecked box Paypal Sandbox in Cart66 Lite under Paypal settings.

It seems like the sales tax will only show in the Cart66 Lite shopping cart but when I use check out, the Paypal figures does not include the sales tax. I even tried to purchase something using my other Paypal account just to test and does not show up in that method as well.

I contacted Paypal and they told me I had to create and use their buttons to have the tax calculated. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of using this Cart66 Lite. Is there anything I may have missed or done wrong? I would appreciate any feedbacks.

    Thank you…..

  • I am having the same problem. Waiting for the reply from cart66 support. Installed the latest version of cart66 lite, and trying to make it work with Paypal Express checkout. Correct amount shows in the shopping cart, but on Paypal the taxes amount gets dropped immediately. It does keep the shipping charges though. Very strange issue. Hopefully support knows how to resolve it. Anyone on cart66 Pro and PayPal express checkout having the same issue?

minibizweb….I contacted Paypal this morning and they told me its a problem on Cart66 Lite check out button and NOT a Paypal issue. Looks to me like the tax information is not integrating correctly with the Paypal Express Button on checkout. I also updated to the current Cart66 Lite 1.4.4 this morning with no luck on a fix. Everything seems to be working fine except for the missing tax on Paypal checkout. Hope they fix this soon or answer here with what to do as a fix or if they are working on it info. I do not mind waiting for a fix if Cart66 Lite knows it’s a known problem and announces it.

I found a solution to accept the tax by not using Paypal Express checkout. I contacted Paypal’s help desk twice and they did not know that manually setting the tax under merchant services and using Paypal standard web method would have Paypal auto calculate the tax once the client logs into their Paypal account to verify the state they are from. I changed the Cart66 Lite code on the Checkout page to [checkout_paypal] and deleted all the API info on the Cart66 Lite Paypal settings API, username, password, signature. The tax calculates okay on the my site and on the checkout oage I out a note saying “Note: The Your State GE Tax will initially NOT show up on the Paypal receipt total until AFTER you completed logging into your Paypal account”. Works okay for me now. I am done with Paypal Express Checkout and even deleted that page aswell as the others that were not in use. Hope this helps!

Are there any cart66 users, both Lite or Pro, working with PayPal Express checkout, or other PayPal account, who observe tax amount passed correctly to Paypal payment screen?
So far I have not received satisfactory reply from cart66, and in my case tax amounts, although shown correctly in cart66 shopping cart before going to Paypal checkout, are disappearing in Paypal screen.
Obviously this is unacceptable for use as is.

Any thoughts other than including tax amount in the basic price of the product?

Yes I have cartt66 Pro and have the same issue.

If you are using PayPal Standard, taxes are fully handled from within your PayPal account. Cart66 has no control over PPS tax rates. This also means that ALL your products will be taxes; you can’t pick and choose.

If you use any other payment gateway, you can manage tax rates from within Cart66 and you won’t have these issues.
