• I’ve read all or most of the posts here about moving from b2evolution to WordPress, and I haven’t found a definite answer to my own question about the process.

I installed WordPress in a seperate “test and fix” directory, imported all my posts from b2evolution (and from an old Blogger blog I kept back in 2003–WordPress’s import features are fantastic!), and I have been cleaning up my data in preperation for launch. My question is, I want my WordPress blog to replace my b2evolution blog, and I want the WordPress blog to have the same URL as the b2evolution blog.

Do I simply delete the b2evolution data from that directory and copy over all my WordPress files from the “test and fix” directory? Do I need to tinker with the WP_config file? How do I set things up so that my WordPress blog can be found at my old URL where my b2 blog used to be?

  • If you would like WP to appear where the old blog used to be – yes, you’ll have to move it to that directory. (I assume they are at the same domain/server.)
You don’t need to modify the wp-config.php file, however you may want to read the “Moving” guides from the Codex > Moving_WordPress before proceeding. You have to modify the two URIs in the Options > General…

Thank you. I’m hoping to make the move today or tomorrow.
