[Plugin: WP SlimStat] SlimStat and privacy
-
Hi,
my name is Johannes and I’m from Germany.
I like SlimStat very much and so I decided to use it instead of Piwik, but I have a little problem that I’d like you to help me with:
We have very strict laws about data privacy here in Germany.
To make sure that the usage of SlimStat isn’t illegal in this case, I have to meet the following requirements:
– The IP of the user has to be anonymized (e.g. the last two numbers cannot be seen,
I think this is possible, but I just did’nt find out how.
– The user needs to have a possibility to opt-out of cookies being saved on his computer. Piwik realizes this by giving this code that I can paste in my Privacy Policy:
<iframe frameborder="no" width="600px" height="200px" src="https://www.example.com/x_piwik/index.php?module=CoreAdmin Home&action=optOut"></iframe>
This includes a little frame that says “Your visits are currently tracked by Piwik. Click here to opt-out” (or something like that)
-Additionally, the durability (hope that this word is correct for the lifespan of cookies in English)of the tracking-cookie has to be set to a very short time, e.g. one weekI know that these are a lot of questions or wishes at once, but I hope that it’s understandable that I don’t want to break the law using SlimStat. I appreciate your help and I think that all other german users (or users who live in a country with similar law) agree with me when I say this.
Greetings,
Johannes
