• Hi,
since I updated WordPress, the text interface with Visual or HTML tabs
is now gone if I use Internet Explorer – with Chrome everything is there… (IE version is 9.0.8112)

  • same here for me except i have chrome and it doesn’t show up. i try to click ‘add new media’ or w/e and it doesn’t even work. wtf what’s going on, why haven’t we been given a solution? i have posts to make.

pcmajor – usually best to start your own thread.

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins if you have one. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Thank you kmessinger for replying,

    – yes, I deactivated all plugins, and the problem remains.
    – I switched to Twenty Eleven theme, and the problem remains.
I have 11 plugins all deactivated right now and the problem is still the same.
Do you suggest I delete them all? I would have to re-configure some of them… About the FTP you are talking about, I am not sure what to do… I see the 11 directories for each plugins in wp-content/plugins, but what should I do with those? Delete the files then put them back in?

    Thanks for your help,
    Annie

    Well,
I have this problem on the websites I updated WordPress on, which is my test site: https://fb-wp.com/ and https://kendamacanada.com/

Can I send you a PM with an admin user so you can take a look at them?

    Regards,
    Annie ??

Oups, corrections, same problem with one I did not update WordPress on…
    https://monbottinste.com/

I use Internet Explorer version 9.0.8112.16421 (well that is the number I get from the Menu: About Internet Explorer)…

    Thanks,
    Annie

Have you tried a different browser?

    Dear kmessinger,

    you did it! Thanks!
Java was running on all my different browsers but not on my Internet Explorer.
I ran a test a couple of weeks ago, with my Security Options set to “High” and let it run with that setting: it completely blocked all Java apps from any website I was visiting with IE!!! But the worst is that there was no message or popup to tell me so!…
And the best thing is, this security settings is probably behind a bigger problem that I am trying to fix on my website:
    https://kendamacanada.com/
One of my customer told me he was unable to buy anything from my site, and I know now, that he probably had his settings set the same way.
Do you have any advice for me to prevent this from happening to anyone visiting my website?
Do you know of a plugin that would tell my customers to change their security settings so they can buy using IE on my website?
Or do you think I should secure my “buy” page with a SSL certificate, and maybe that’ll fix this issue?

Thank you so much, fells like I made a big step forward,
    Regards,
    Annie ??

You can put a troubleshooting page up with the java test and download plus instructions on how to activate it in different browsers.

You can search for an java script to include on your site’s first page that would only activate if the browser did not have java and then show a warning that java was required

You could just put a prominent announcement that “This site requires Java to be enabled. Then the test link and a download link.
