Breaking Dependencies on Updates?

    Hello,

    WP 3.3.2 is out and I am a little afraid that updating this early will break some plugin functionality and mess up the websites under my WPMU install.

    This usually happens with OS updates and coherence with software running on it on every machine I have worked with in the past so…

    Is WP and specifically WPMU generally known to keep working fine through updates or is it a legitimate worry?

    WP == WPMU (seriously).

    The changes from 3.3.1 to 3.3.2 are negligible, and you should upgrade. Read https://www.ads-software.com/news/2012/04/wordpress-3-3-2/ if you want to know more about what was changed.

    There’s always a legit worry that an upgrade will break a plugin, but it’s actually fairly rare. Generally if you’re that worried about it, you should make a test site (locally or hidden on the same server) where you can test.

    FWIW, I’m beta testing 3.4 on my live site without any issues.
