Comments page not loading

    I have spent a couple hours this morning trying to identify the problem with my comments page. After trying the options below (all solutions that I found on these forums), I am still having problems getting the comments page to load when you click the “Comments” link.

    Whenever you click the comments link, it brings up a new page that says “Sorry, No posts matched your criteria”

    Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

    1) deleting and reloading the .htaccess file with the permalink structure. .htaccess was manually edited and chmoded to 666 for an automatic update by WordPress. Neither solved my problems.

    2) I tried replacing the comments.php file in my theme folder with the comments.php file from my default folder. This didn’t work either.

    3) I have tried logging out as an admin, clearing my cache/cookies and then tried posting a comment to no avail.

    I’m sure there’s an error with one of the php pages but i’m having a tough time identifying it. I am using the Conestogastreet theme.

    Anybody else have any other suggestions?

  • Does it work if you switch to the default or classic theme?

    When I tried the Default theme I was given:
    Error 404 – Not Found

    When I tried the Classic theme I was given (with no option to actually post a comment):
    Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.

    What structure do you have for your permalinks? Where that “1” comes from in every link of yours?
    e.g. after archives:
    https://www.pineriders.com/archives/1/2005/10/12/welcome/

    Here’s my permalink structure. That “1” you’re referencing is the Category.

    /archives/%category%/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    Take out category.

    I removed Category from my permalink structure but I’m still receiving the same blank comments page.

    Did you update your .htaccess file?

    I thought WordPress automatically updated my .htaccess file if I chmodded the file properly, but apparently it didn’t. I manually updated my .htaccess file and now everything works.

    Is there a reason why %category% doesn’t work as a string?
