• Hello,

New to WordPress Multisite, and looking to get something done.

Currently I have two full functioning, different themes and content, wordpress sites, let’s say site1.com and site2.com.

I will be creating a new domain, which I want to use as the main site, let’s say: mastersite.com.

If I understand correctly, if I set up mastertest.com, it will create folders for the other sites, so mastertest.com/site1 and mastertest.com/site2, which I can then use the plugin Domain Mapping to link those back to my actual domain (ie. site1.com links to mastertest.com/site1).

Is this all possible without the sites being down? Also, is the above correct? This is kind of what I’ve gathered from reading.

    Yes ?? Well … mostly.

Pick one domain to be the master as you said, and create a site for mappeddomain.com

Export everything from mapped, import it into master’s mapped site, and make sure it looks like you want. At this point you will have the WRONG URL. And that’s okay. Don’t panic.

Grab the Domain Mapping plugin and install it. Tell it ‘mappeddomain.com == masterdomain.com/mappeddomain ‘ and hit save.

In your DNS, change the TTL to a lower number (I always forget this step)

Park the mappeddomain on top of Master Domain.

Wait a bit for DNS to catch up.

    Off you go!
