if (is front page) ?

I am trying to display a different header image on front page only.
I am new to WP.

I learned from a tutorial how to use an “if” statement (in the header.php) to tell a static page from a post using the following code. (If it is a page, it will didplay at the top “This is a page”. If it is a post, it will display “This is not a page”.

My question is, how can I tell decypher a page from a “front page” so I can call a different image if it is the “front page”?
