[Plugin: Lightbox Plus] Can this work for hotspots in an imagemap?

I like the look of images using this plugin, but I need to know it will work with imagemaps.

I’m trying it out, and so far it works with everything -except- when I link an image in an imagemap. Even with the rel= set correctly, the images will only open in a new page, never a Lightbox.

Anyone know if/how this can be made to work. If not, any recommendations on how to get imagemap hotspots to open with a lightbox effect?
