Can wp-shortstat use ip-to-country plugin?

Recently I’ve noticed that the host which the wp-shortstat plugin uses in the determineCountry function (www.hostip.info) is down. Because of this, wp-shortstat then simply throws up another count in the Countries table as Indeterminable.

I have the ip-to-country plugin installed, and working.
Using the following on its own wp_ip2c_getCountryCode2(1, $ip); returns the correct country code. Is it possible to modify wp-shortsat to use ip-to-country to determine the country code rather than relying on an external site?

I did some playing around with the functions as well, but can’t seem to get it to return properly.

Anyone have a suggestion as to how to go about this?
