    Config: WP 1.5.2 Theme: Squible
Research: Support Forum + Codex + Technorati + Squible

Situation: Noticed a few days ago that my recently tagged posts did not show up on Technorati anymore. Example is simple: click a technorati-bubble in my main/latest post and you will NOT find that article on Technorati (only older ones).

    – Still on hold with technorati
    – Did a manual ping through Technorati and through Pingomatic
    – Checked one other own site with squible, same story
    – Checked squible sites by other people, most of them same problem
    – found out that setting to pingomatic and Technorati might cause spam resemblance, so only have pingomatic in wp-admin
    – know that squible does not W3 validate… can that be the problem??? Why did work then before?
    – no response yet on squible support

    Somebody p’lease?

I have the same problem. I just installed the plugin called “The ultimate tag warrior” but even there everything seemed fine up until a certain point. Now I can’t seem to find any of my posts on Technorati. Didn’t know if I could before though. Perhaps my blog name “[?°}” could be the culprit, but then again, curly’s web site has a “normal” name… I’m lost here, since I’m not that of an expert when it comes to tags, pings, etc. %-[

There has been problem with Technorati’s bot for about the past two weeks. I have continually submitted support requests to Technorati, but no one has answered them yet.

Apparently, the Technorati bot is only cataloguing tags which are presented in the old <a href="" rel="tag"> fashion. It is no longer cataloguing tags which are presented inside <category> tags (such as WordPress’ categories) and <dc:subject> tags (such as the tags published by Ultimate Tag Warrior).

If we all send support requests to Technorati, maybe they will finally make an attempt to fix this.

Thanks for the info… I’ll put it also on the squible support pool.

I am using the Pool theme and am unable to have my tags reconized. They exist outside of the catagory set up though.

Look how the tags are here: https://www.higher-profits.com

you can see the resultant “tag cosmos” by clicking on the tab at the top.

    Anyone able to contact them?

I wonder if its not a way of cutting down their load for some reason….

If anyone has an update or anything for this please please let me know as many blogs of mine are waiting on the answer.

    Thanks

Phractus, your tags use the old <a href="" rel="tag"> method and will work properly, but you will need to present your feed as full content rather than summary. The summary mode typically cuts the posts in the feed before the tags are visible, and strips out the HTML code so Technorati will never see the tag relationship.

As for the overall issue, I am on my third weekly support ticket now and have received no response as of yet. If this is “a way of cutting down their load for some reason,” then they should consider changing their information on what items are identified as tags.

I just wanted to let everyone know I am on my forth weekly support ticket now and have received no response as of yet. If anyone else wants this fixed, please start submitting Technorati support tickets now.

I emailed Dave, the founder of Technorati.

He never replied, BUT…they just started indexing all of my tags properly ??

Has anyone else noticed a change?

    danabrey

    (@danabrey)

Not for me just yet. Anyone know how to change the way the tags (well, categories) are formatted on the free WordPress.com blogs? Shouldn’t think there is a way – but does that mean Technorati will not see them?

Same problem here. 22 days so far and no responses. Besides my API key returns an “Invalid key” error too. I wonder if I delete the URL Claim and start all over again results in the lost of all indexed posts.

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

I doubt that deleting the claim will help. I have noticed that Technorati is ignoring <category> and <dc:subject> tags across the board, regardless of blog claim status. Trust me, I have spent a whole month researching this thing. They need to either fix their bot, or change their documentation.

I had the same problem, but
It’s working for me since today ??

I made 2 changes today but don’t known if this hasd an impact :
    – upgraded to 1.5.2
    – changed the update service to https://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

then posted a new post, and all was right :
first this post and old ones were indexed on my tags except some ones.
later, I looked again, and ALL my posts were indexed on ALL my tags !

For exmaple, here a tag with my new and old posts : https://technorati.com/tag/Djerba

    phractus

    (@phractus)

Intresting I will have to check into old posts being tagged that where missed.

I started manually clicking the “update ping” button inside of technorati instead of just pinging them.

Not sure if thats what did it or the email to them.

Either way best of luck resolving this for everyone, its a major dilema that they really should be working on very much. If they are not indexing blog posts properly it will create a bad view of the “blogsphere”

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Phractus, your tags work because, as previously noted, you are using the old-style <a href="" rel="tag"> tags. Those tags work just fine. If they didn’t, Technorati would be completely blank. The <category> and <dc:subject> tags are the ones which have not been catalogued for the past month.

Neo, if you ping both Ping-o-Matic and Technorati consecutively, you could be banned from Technorati, as your blog would be pinging it twice in less than the span of a second.

    stopthepress

    (@stopthepress)

Sonofagun! 24 days no indexing and still no response from Technorati. I even changed “bookmark” by “tag”, no way.
BTW what the hell is “bookmark” good for?

    phractus

    (@phractus)

Intresting Madmax, I must of been banned by techno then for pinging (ping from WP and feedburner) at the same time this began. I wonder if that email to the CEO did anything or if they just decided to un-block me for some random reason.

Best of luck in getting it resolved. I know they are very busy there. So keep trying!

I wonder how many people do not even know that they have not been getting tagged?
