• Something very weird. I placed an image link in a page, properly tagged. But when I updated the page, the colors of all the text had altered even though its code was unchanged. When I went to look closely at the code, something about Update is putting in slashes where they should not be. I have tried many times to fix, removed the image code, pasted the original text code in again, cleared my History, refreshed, etc, but the unknown-origin slashes keep coming every time I Update the page and the colors are not the ones specified by the code.

    example before update:
    <p><b> <font color=”#330066″>DO YOU HAVE

    example after update:
    <p><b> <font color=\”#330066\”>DO YOU HAVE

What can I do? This is a paying customer’s site and I’m stumped!!!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I am already on the Twenty Eleven theme. It is not a plugin function that is failing, but a basic wordpress function (the Update page). it is only ONE page that’s acting up, since I added image code to it, so if it were a plugiin problem, all the pages I’ve been updating should have been affected. I really don’t want to mess with the site and risk further problems as the customer is just about to launch her business today.

    Site url?

If you look at all the other pages you’ll see the text color theme.
On the Cushions page which is bombing out, you’ll see the text colors have changed from the violet to blue, from olive green to a lighter green, etc,, even though the html color code numbers have not been changed. It just keeps adding those slashes during Update.

Sorry, not the Cushions page bombing out, it’s the Creative Storage page. (I haven’t updated the customer’s color scheme on the Cushions page yet, and now I’m scared to!)

What are you using to add <font color="foo">? That is not being added by WordPress. Are you pasting content into the HTML editor from something else?

    (@diannetrussell)

No,,just writing the html code straight into the html text box or, if there is a lot of code, I’ll put it into a text file – Text Edit (I use Mac) and then copy paste into the html box. I’ve been doing both methods on all pages from the beginning and it has caused no trouble. i do not use Microsoft Word as a text editor. Just realized though, I tried the WP wysiwyg plugin but it did nothing so I forgot about it. I’ll disable that and see what happens.

Yes it was the wysiwyg plugin. Odd that it has failed to do anything for a week and suddenly this morning decides to screw up just one of the pages I was editing! Not much of a plugin then!
