[Plugin: Theme My Login] Widget Redirects to 404 Error

  • Hello Jeff and everyone,

    I’ve been having an issue with the plugin widget since I updated to 6.2. As you can see on my website: playjoiner.com I have edited the templates for the forms, but everything else is the same when it comes to functions. However, now on the homepage if I press on Sign Up or Reset Password it redirects to a 404 error. What could be the issue causing this?

    Before the update is was working flawlessly: which is refresh the homepage and display the requested form.

    If your Login Page a child page?

    If by a child page you mean a child theme then yes, my whole website is a child theme.

    If you mean if it has a parent or not when it comes to website structure, then no, none of website pages have parents, the’re all “no parent”.

    TML is working as it’s supposed to. When you click Lost Password, it displays the Lost Password form on that 404 page. Either your theme or another plugin is setting the 404, for some reason.

    It does show the form, but the page itself is handled by TML, that is where the 404 error is coming from. To prove this, I downgraded my TML to 6.1.4 and now it’s working as it used to, which is perfect.

    I have no clue why this error is happening, however, it seems I’ll stick with 6.1.4 as it serves my needs without errors. Thank you, Jeff.

    The page itself is not handled by TML. That is your “home” page. TML is simply appending query arguments to the URL. With that said, I’m not sure why it would do it in 6.2 but not in 6.1.4.

    It seams that there is a problem if your press the “register” or “forgot password” link on the “home” page. In this cast WordPress shows a site with your latest articles and not your Startpage as set in the theme.

    If you klick the links on a different page (other than root) it seams to work.

    Jeff, is it a problem to have the Login Page as a child page?

    I realized that you can solve the “child page issue” with the permalinks settings.

    But…
    When you put “{parent}/login/?action=register” on the Register permalink field, it results in “{parent}/login/?action=register/”, and because of the last slash, it doesn′t work…

    It happens with the Lost Password permalink also… there is a “/” at the end of the URL that breaks the link…

    You don’t need the query string (“?action=register”) on the permalinks. That’s the whole point of permalinks, to remove the “ugly” query string.

    For register, you would just use “{parent}/register”.

    Just a question: where can I find the widget code for the frontend? I would like to take a look on this…
