Another "Blog Posts MIA" Thread

    I’ve searched the forum for help, but so far haven’t found anything. Appreciate any assistance you can provide!

    My website is https://www.byosb.com, and my blog posts are (supposed to be) under the “News” section. They were, up until about a week ago. I am pretty sure they went away when I took down an :Under Construction” image I had on the Home page(“Welcome,” on my site) and, put the blog posts to be displayed instead.

    I did that as a temporary thing, but in doing so, the posts disappeared from the usual place. Now I have redone the Welcome page, but cannot get the blog to display. They do show in the editing mode, under “All Posts” but not on the viewed blog.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Hmm…. I did all but the reset, since I didn’t know how. So, called my host and they troubleshooted with me. esentially insisting I deactivate/reactivate Plug-Ins, despite my telling them I already did.

    We did that – twice….

    Problem not fixed.

    So, they have sent me an instruction sheet to create a new Page for the blog. I assume I will be able to transfer the posts to that page once it is up. But – out of time to do the work today.

    OH MY GOD…

    The support person from my hosting service should be fired. Or at least get a spanking.

    After having spent easily an hour with her yesterday, as detailed above, I went ot create the new page for my blog. In following the instructions, I saw a notation that showed the Settings>Reading page, with an illustration detailing to click the proper page under the “Posts” section….

    I realized that I had not checked that box in the several times I had been on the Settings>Reading Page.

    Went there, and yup – it was simply not set to read from the “news” page for posts…

    Problem RESOLVED!

    I have to wonder if it wasn’t “Bring Your Kid to Work” day and someone had stepped away from their dest and told their kid “Now, don’t be answering the phone while I am in the john….”

    GRRRRR!
