how to register members with no email

  • I have a private site. Users must register. I do not want to have email as a required field. Is there any way to have the email address not required? This is very important to my client and I do not see a way around this. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • It must be possible, but that email address is deeply integrated into WordPress’ registration and password reset system. It is going to be a lot of work to re-engineer that, and I am not sure you can do it without hacking core files (which means that your work would vanish if the client updated the site).
