I’m having problem with pagination on the website I’m developing. It’s working fine in the “Category” pages, but it’s not working on the Homepage. I turned off all my plugins but still the “Older Entries” link is not working. Somebody please help me as the entire website is crippled without the feature not working.

    Peace. ??

  • Upload it on a live test site and post the link here so that someone can have a look at it and tell you what is happening and the fix for it.

Thanks for replying. My website’s link: https://www.edufacto.com

There are two things that you have to check:
    1. Set the number of posts per page to 2 (temporarily)
    2. Add a some dummy posts so that the number of posts is more than the number you have set.

If these do not work, it can be something to do with the theme.

In other aspects, I find your site working fine.

I tried doing the steps but it still doesn’t work. I read somewhere that it is to do with query_posts()thing. Any ideas?

Thanks, Krisna, but I have already read the page. I am not well versed in PHP. I tried to search for query_posts in my index.php file but I couldn’t find it.

See you have only three posts so far. What is the number of posts that you have set per page?

    I don’t have 3 posts. I have 9 posts. And per page I have set 3 posts.

There are certain invalid codes like this:
    <span class="dsq-postid" rel="167 https://www.edufacto.com/?p=167">

Do you think it is correct? Can it make some problem?

Where is this code? Which file?

I got it to work. I went to Settings >> Reading and set the number of posts to 1 in the “Blog pages show at most”. I guess there’s some bug in the latest (3.4) WordPress due to which it is behaving this way. Thanks a lot anyway, man! Good day! ??

It is NOT because of any problems with WordPress, but because of too many errors and warnings in the validation of your sites pages. Most of the problems are related to bad coding. It would be a nice idea to start with validation and correct such mistakes. Also, make sure that the theme and plugins used by you are compatible with 3.4.

You are welcome. Please mark this as resolved.

What kind of validation warnings and errors are you talking about, Krishna? I thought Elegant Themes to be the best when it comes to WordPress themes. So, it is strange that their themes would be badly coded. How do I look for errors? Thanks.

You can see the errors and warnings HERE. Whatever is the theme, you need to correct these mistakes.

Thanks a bunch for letting me know of this useful validation tool! As it turns out, almost all the errors are due to the Social plugin. The theme is fine in itself. I’ll message the plugin developer and let him/her know about these errors. ??
