Problems moving from wordpress.com to Multisite

Hi,

I recently set up a WordPress Multisite with a GoDaddy account, and I’m running 4 separate sites. One of them I migrated from wordpress.com by exporting an XML file, and importing it. Worked fine, but the site was very simple, and didn’t have a lot of assets on it.

Now I’m trying to move my last to WordPress.com site to the network, and it’s a blog I’ve had for a couple of years, with lots of media and posts. I get to the point where I have uploaded the XML file, but in the process of importing the assets from the site, the server stops responding. I have tried this a dosen times with several browsers, and several computers and internet connections.

I don’t know where to start troubleshooting, cause I have no idea where the problem is, or how to do it in a different way. Would like to avoid paying a lot of money to get the site migrated, since I have managed to do most of the work on the WP network by myself until now.
