Updating Posts

    I am a fairly new WordPress user, but I pretty much know my way around the system and how to navigate in the Dashboard and so forth.

    I need help updating my posts.

    For instance, when there is new information, instead of just posting a new post stating new information, I would rather just update the original post and have it appear before the other posts, comments and all.

    I have tried the sticky, but I don’t want this post to stick all the time.

    Example:

    Supreme Court to Rule Today on ObamaCare…

    If new information is available I would want the post to read:

    UPDATE: Supreme Court to Rule Today on ObamaCare…

    And have it appear at the top of the blog.

    How dod I do this?

  • What I have started doing is hardcoding the original date in the post itself, then if there is an update that needs to go to the top of the posts page, i change the date (on the original post) to the date of the update. Kind of funky way. I wish I knew another way myself, so I hope some one else chimes in here.

    Why not just update the publish date/time when you update the post?

    Ok I know that works, but unless you have the date in the actual post, you lose the timing on the ‘event’. Glad that is all you need theteasppilledaily.

    I would like a better solution. But will start my own thread I guess on that one.
