• Having a bit of an issue here.

I am making a new website to replace the one that is currently on defye.com. This site was on defye.com/wordpress , until I attempted to move it to defye.com yesterday. I accidentally put “defye.com” in both the host URL and the site URL boxes, and that messed up the site as well as kicked me out fo WordPress, and I am unable to log in.

I’ve checked on FTP, and all of the files for the wordpress site are still in the wordpress folder, as far as I can tell, yet it won’t display properly on the /wordpress site, and it won’t let me log in. I also went into MySQL and changed the site URL back to defye.com/wordpress, but that doesn’t seem to have helped.

    Please help??

  • If the site is at defye.com (now that you moved it) the database siteurl should be defye.com and not defye.com/wordpress.

Also, you might want to check out this script:
    https://interconnectit.com/124/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

This will help you find and replace all instances of the old domain and replace with the new domain. Plus it takes care of any serialized plugin data.

No, the site is not at defye.com now. I accidentally changed the siteURL when I didn’t mean to just yet, and the old site stayed where it was. The new site just got completely messed up (the new site is still … sort of there, at the /wordpress URL, though it’s giving me a 500 error now), and though I see the files in the core folder they aren’t doing anything.

Basically, I just want to be able to turn it back so I can log in to WordPress again.

Thanks for the info about the search and replace though.

Oh, and trying to go to the wordpress/wp-admin.php page is also giving me a 500 error. ??

    Hey Crepusculae,

Your https://defye.com/wordpress/ site is looking good right now. Everything looks like it is linking up.

For the wp-admin error, leave off .php. That is not a file. Go to https://defye.com/wordpress/wp-admin/. That came up fine on my machine.
