Error when adding code to Theme Function.php crashes site

Hello I am trying to add this code https://wcdocs.woothemes.com/snippets/change-number-of-products-per-row/ to a Woocommerce child theme, but whenever I do it throws an 500 error. I am adding it to the functions.php in the editor and have even tried going through the backend with Notepad++ and uploading it via FTP same result site crashes. All I want to do is return more products per row 5 instead of 3. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
