Spam Comments coming through photo

see if your theme has an image.php template file, and if that template has a line with comments_template()

if yes – remove the line.

hiding the comment part with ‘display: none;’ is not enough; the code is still in the html.

The theme doesn’t have a image.php template file.
Could that line be in another file?

could be in attachment.php, or single.php, or index.php;

Found it in page.php and single.php, backed up files and deleted code.

I have to ask the questions –
How is access to make comments through this code possible when comments aren’t enabled?
Is it common? Why doesn’t it happen to all targeted comments disabled wordpress sites?
Is it template specific?
Can it be prevented?

Damn – it didn’t work. I’m still getting spam through the photos on this page here
Any other ideas?
