• I’ve just finished redesiging my design folio using WP as a CMS. It was some hard work and I’ve ended up modifying pretty much everything from the theme to the actual WP scrips to get it to work with php code in posts, extra cookies and so on. But it still pretty amazing how powerful the WP base is and how you can build pretty much whatever you want on top of it and still get it all out neatly in RSS ??

Anyway, I’d love to hear your comments on it. I still need to do some checks in Windows browsers so if you find anything that looks strange, please send me a screen capture.

  • A lovely design and some wonderful showcased work. Good job!

fredrik I dig it, I love your work ?? What did you use for the gallery? I am really interested in seeing how you did that if you dont mind.

    Thanks guys!

dremeda, not really sure what you mean. I’m guessing that by the “gallery” you mean the thumbnail images on the archive pages? What I did there was simply to put the thumbnail in the excerpt and then show only that on the archive pages.

fredrik, I meant the flash gallery you used, I really like how it looks. I am about to add a gallery to https://www.dremeda.com/detox and I am not sure what direction I am heading yet.

Once again I really dig your work!

Ahh, _that_ gallery ?? Sorry man, misunderstood you. Well given my limited flash skills I just put i together as simple as possible. So it’s just a preloader covering the whole page first, and then on the next scene one button for every image fading the image in when clicked.

Or am i misunderstanding you again now?

Very nice. Great work and its good to see another aussie (even half aussie) here, not just me!

Heh, thanks man! Visa is running out though, so I’ll have to leave this island in three weeks ??

How long have you been here for?

Two years. Just finished my degree so now I’ve gotta go back to europe again. I’m looking forward to it actually, I’m broke and need a job ??

    lol good luck.

If your Flash skills are limited mine are worse ?? it looks great and similar to what I am looking for. Ironically enought I am done with my work here in Europe and I am heading back to the United States in 3 weeks.

Wow people are going every where and I am only moving state!

Looks good fredrik, but I do have a (constructive in my opinion) suggestion.

I recommend replacing the /?p=14 style permalinks with something like /work/temp-friends/. This is easier to remember, easier to tell people (for instance, I don’t know, a job interview via the phone “drop the pressure dot com slash work slash temp dash friends”), and more pleasing to the eye. Apart from being easier accessed by search engines.

This is easy to do with the permalink modification functions in WP.

For instance, I do it all over my photolog. If I need to show something to someone, since I remember the picture names, I can get to them easily with a /shoebox/picture-name/

Thanks for the comment wahgnube, but there are some issues with using permalinks on this particular site. I’m using them for my other blog but unfortunately for this one i’ve done too many big changes to the code for them to work properly ??

I’ve been thinking that I will spend some time on a work-around for it a bit later on. For now I’m just happy that it works ??
