    I get this Fatal error message while trying to update from 3.3.2 to 3.4.1

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function update_core() in /home/roettger/public_html/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader.php on line 988

    I have turned off all my plugins and am using the latest version of the Twenty Ten Theme.

    This is line 988 (which is part of a larger function) from that file:

    return update_core($working_dir, $wp_dir);

    I’m really trying to avoid a manual installation. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks,
    Eleanor

  • I think that a manual upgrade might be the only option. I would re-upload all of the files from a fresh WordPress install, except the ones in the wp-content folder.

    Thanks for your help.

    This issue was a result of not having enough room on the server to update. Once I increased the size everything worked beautifully and I was able to update.
