Replacing defunct theme with new theme

  • Does anyone have suggestions on how to most efficiently and easily replace a defunct theme? When I did so, it messed my site up a lot. I tried to go from a three column to two column them. I also had text in my header which did not show up on the new site’s header. I saw no header template in the new theme either, which is probably the issue.

    The old theme was “State of Mind” and the new theme was “Enough”. I have undid the change for now. Will I have to manually input all the parts into the new site?

    Oh – I should have explained: The reason for the change was because “State of Mind” is defunct – meaning it is not being updated. I was told I needed to stop using it. So my question still remains. Thanks.

    Just chose, install & activate another theme.

    What is the new theme does not have a HEADER template (while State of Mind did) and I want some customized text at the top of the home page (using “Enough” as theme). I had put text into the code on the header template of “State of Mine” and it worked fine. Is this not going to be doanbe with a theme that does NOT have a header template? The “enough” theme has very few templates – compared to “state of mind”.

    Almost all themes have a header.php template file but not many will have a widget capable header area or another way of adding text to the header. You will either need to continue looking for a suitable theme or perhaps create a child theme with a customised header.php template file.
