Adding background behind content and widgets in twentyeleven

  • Hi, my site is:

    I’m trying to make the background behind the content and the widgets black, but I have not had any luck. I am fairly new to CSS and am not sure what to change in the child theme I created for the twentyeleven theme. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
