• As I searched under podcasting in these forums, I found that most people want to add podcasting to their posts. What I would like to do is different and I thought maybe someone could help me.

I already have a podcast that you can subscribe to in itunes. What I would like to do is have a page on my site (www.thetransformed.net) dedicated to this podcast where I can have a link to subscribe to the podcast through itunes, a picture of the album art, and most importantly (and the part I do not know how to do) have an audio file of the most recent podcast available to listen to right on my site. I would like this audio file to update automatically everytime there is a new episode. Is there any way to do this? Thanks

  • Although I don’t know how to, but you can check an example from MacTV.

    Here’s what comes to mind:

    1. Use a category for your podcast

    2. Install a plugin such as RunPHP

    3. On the Podcast page, display a list of recent posts (limit to 1) from the podcast category

This will give a link to the most recent podcast post.

As far as linking directly to the most recent .mp3 file, I don’t think that’s possible using native features in WP.

You’d have to access the custom keys that trigger file enclosures in the RSS, which means you’re looking at some heavy custom MySQL queries.

I like Justin’s suggestion, although RunPHP is not necessary; you could set up a custom Page template for your Page which, using query_posts(), initializes The Loop for that Page to display the latest post from your podcast category.
