In fact, in “Event List” view, all the demographics for the venue and time are being displayed improperly. The first event displayed is having it’s times and venue information carried into the display of the second, third and subsequent events on the page. Not good. I can’t be the first one to experience this problem, can I?

Hi dwzemens. Thanks for reaching out here, and for your note. Sorry to hear you’re having problems. Obviously what you’re experiencing here is not the intended behavior of the core plugin, so it sounds like something else is at play here.

My guess is that this is almost certainly a conflict with either another plugin or your theme. Can you try deactivating your other plugins one-by-one until just The Events Calendar is active on your theme? If that doesn’t do the trick, please revert to the default 2011 theme (still with no other plugins active). If we can identify the conflict it’ll be helpful in getting this resolved.
