• Hi,

I have a master list and I’ve assigned some to-do items to editors and contributors.

On my admin dashboard, all items are unchecked, leading me to think that nobody has done any of the assigned to-do’s yet.

But upon checking the editor’s dashboard, I see that she has completed her to-do list and marked them as complete.

Am I supposed to check those off manually myself on my admin dashboard? I thought that when an assigned user has completed a to-do, it will update on my side too but maybe I am assuming this is automated when it’s not. Or this could be a bug.

That is how the master list functions. It sounds like group view would be a better fit for your needs.

Group view shares one to-do list between all users. When someone marks something as complete, it will show as completed for all users.

Master view was created to provide an overall identical list that each user needs to complete independently. Completing an item won’t update the master list (aka an admin’s view), only that user’s view.

    Thanks for explaining.

From what I understand from your description, a group list is for a collaborative environment But here’s a real world scenario:

For example, I have several “Upload a photo” items on my checklist, each assigned to a different author. Basically steps to complete their profile and such.

In other words, it’s “an overall identical list that each user needs to complete independently” for which I’ve used a master list.

I guess I’m just not sure why then I would have a checklist that doesn’t automatically get updated after something assigned gets done appearing on my dashboard at all.

Can it be a feature in your next update? I think it will be more productive that way.

    Otherwise, it’s a great plugin.

The master view came about as a donation-supported feature request, so that’s why it functions as it does. I can’t change that, although I’m not opposed to adding other view types.

I’m a little fuzzy on what you’re looking for and how it differs from the existing view types. Is it that you want a preset list for each user, but you want to be able to see if they’ve completed the items in your to-do list?

Basically, I’m hoping to use the to-do lists and be updated on their completion.

For now, I use preset lists depending on role type (e.g. new authors and contributors have to complete their profile) but I also use it to keep on top of section editors for day-to-day operations (e.g. “write short category description for newly created Wine category”)
