wordpress showing only "?" instead of images in android browser

  • Hi,
    I noticed that my wordpress blog is not displyed properly in ICS android browser: in ICS 4.0.3, in both ACER A510 and ASUS TF700T (transformer infinity), the stock android browser displays “?” instead of pictures in both main page and individual posts.
    I use WPTouch 1.9.42 in WP 3.4.1 and same issue occurs with WPtouch activated and deactivated. Viewing the mobile version or the PC version shows same issue.
    I use Arras Theme but I tried with Twenty Eleven,and same issue.
    On both tablets using the Chrome application shows proper display.
    In a HTC Desire S (honeycomb), the stock browser shows pages properly.
    I tried to clear cache, cookies and history, but same issue (tried also to force close, clear cache..).

    I wonder if it was already the same issue a couple months ago before I update wordpress to 3.4.1 (I’m not sure, but I think I saw no issue at that time, and stock browsers of touchpads were already in ICS 4.0.3.

    Is it a known issue ? I could not find similar issue by googling.

    In my experience, you will have to fully clear the browser cache on these devices after making a major site change such as a theme or turning on of off a mobile plugin.

    Have you done so?

    I tried to clear cache+cookies+history in browser settings and aso I tried to force close+clear cache of browser in the application manager settings of ICS. and still same issue.
    the weird thing is that it does occur on 2 touchpads. and also that phenomena is not linked with “mobile site” status since it hapens for both mobile version and PC version.

    and regarding initial “big” update of WP to 3.4.1, I had not yet the TF700T, so its cache was virgin..

    Are you expecting your site to look the same on the mobile devices as it does on a PC using the mobile plugin?

    Please review the plugin documentation regarding page templates and the pro version.

    Hi,

    @seacost : no, of course, I don’t expect same look on mobile and PC. I only notice that both the mobile version and the laptop version do not show pictures as they should when viewed in ICS stock browser of 2 different tablets -while it looks OK on such tablet but using Chrome browser, and on a mobile device using honeycomb and ots stock browser.

    I can try to take pictures if it helps..

    Hi,

    I had put investigation on stand by during holidays, but I still face the issue.
    Moreover, I see that even if all extensions are disabled, browser still only shows “?” instead of pictures. And if the browser goes to some administration pages (ie not shown via the WP theme), pictures are also not showing up !
    PHP is 5.2.17 and WP is 3.4.1
    I made sure that cache is cleared in browser by going to browsers’s parameters and “clear Cache”, and testing with both a transformer prime and an iconia a510. Same problems.

    I tried also to regenerate thumbnails, juts in case, but nothing better. Note also that system pictures are also not showing. The only thing shoing up are the “dates blocks” of posts if I view in mobile version (using WPTouch once activated).

    Also, I noticed hat if I click on the “?” showing up instead of picture, then it brings a full size picture (so there’s definitely something behind the pictures links..)

    Any idea ?
    Is there anyway to display the exact/detailed html code received by andoird stock browser ?

    Hey ricorico94 have you had any luck?

    I am having the similar problem of images not appearing in native android browser on Samsung Galaxy nexus,Samsung sI and II. I can click on the image link and the image will appear and then I am able to view image on site. Site works fine on Safari, Chrome, Opera.
