[Plugin: Simple Tags] Doesn't work for French language

I can’t get any tags in French nor in in English, except with the Tag The Net service. However, in that particular case, French words with special letters (such as é, è, ?, ?, …) are displayed incorrectly, when the words aren’t simply split into different meaningless components.
