    Hello
This site uses WordPress.com Stats – and “magically” have had ca 5000+ hits a day the last few days, compared to ca 1000, which used to be normal. Nothing special has happened to explain this.
What could be wrong? What could I do?

    appriciate all help ??

  • When you hits 10K a day throw up some ads….

It happens on certain occasions. Does your site have anything sports and games related?

it could be DDoS, just check the visitors log from your hosting cPanel account (awstats or webstats etc and check the visitors IP Address).

Usually there are repeated visits, with 5-10 seconds delay and have no user agent.

I tried to check for the ip-addresses, BUT:

when i click on ?site stats? in the panel theese are my choises: Referrers, Top Posts & Pages, Search Engine Terms, Clicks and Blog Stats
    (summary)
I cant seem to find any IP-addresses…. Where should i loook?

    Where did you check stats?

Not wordpress admin dashboard, but your host control panel.

ok. sorry, I havent done this before.
ok so i found the awstats.txt. but im not sure what to do of it (im not very experienced with this)

its a awstat.txt for every 1.st of the month for the last monts, but not a 01.08-2012 – only two files for 02.08.2012.. (?)

this lines look similar but are they the same?

ddos = distributed denial of services, the ip address does not need to exact match.

but usually, they in same class.

Hard to read but i think it’s ddos. and usually ddos ony last for few hours. As long your web is not getting down or suspended, it’s not a big deal i think.

thanks. it has lastet since 27. july… and it gets higher every day. So im a bit “scared” i guess.
is there something I can do?

    Thread Starter suzyq007

    (@suzyaieno)

Im not sure what to do with this. If it is an attack it should probably be stopped right?

    any tips?

Can you post your site URL so that someone will try to locate if it is an attack, infection, etc?

    Thread Starter suzyq007

    (@suzyaieno)

On the first tests, I do not find any symptoms of DDoS or any attacks. Can you visit your Google Analytics account and take a screen shot of your visitors’ graph and post it here (you may blank out your account number)?

Also check the URLs getting the maximum hits. Is there a deviation from the URLs visited the most in the past?

This page does not have a google analytics account I think.
the frontpage gets the most hits, it is a deviation: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/18601138/Bilde88.png
