• Hi, Thanks for your help. I am new to WordPress and inexperienced with it. My problem is:
I did export and import last night, just trying to be familiar with backing up my site. I exported and imported as the instructions told. After having imported my XML file back to WordPress to my previous site, everything works fine basically, only that:
    1. “Miscellaneous” is missing from “Settings”
    2. New uploaded files/images with the folder holding them are invisible from the “wp-content/uploads” folder (the files are visible on the page and could be downloaded, and I did search on cPanel and I found the files and folder, only that they are invisible from the “Uploads” folder.)
    3. the plugins are working fine, but the “Plugins” folder is empty.
What’s wrong with it? or with me?

    Thanks for help.

  • Can you post your site URL so that someone will take a look and tell you what is happening and what corrective measures you need to do.

Where did you import from? It seems the images are still loading from your previous site. They were not exported to your current site.

I exported the site to my computer, and then imported the exported XML file from my computer back to my site.

See this image link is loaded correctly from your site: https://www.ruthenpaul.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/ChronoBPic.png

Can you give an example of any image/ page link where you find the problem?

Oh, yes, I simply chose “All Content” to export when I did export. The images and the plugins did not go to my computer, and when I imported the XML file back to my site, WordPress simply loaded the images from my previous site to the corresponding folders.
But, the “Plugins” folder is empty, some previously uploaded and the newly uploaded images are not visible in the “Uploads” folder. Most serious is, the “Miscellaneous” is missing from “Settings” that I cannot manage the site/files as I need to.
    Thanks for keeping helping me.

I uploaded a file this morning. It showed up in my testing page. I found it in the cPanel: /public_html/ruthenpaul/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/字母書寫練習_0011.jpg
But I did not see the /08/ folder in the “Uploads” folder. “Uploads” folder has only up to /07/.

Actually, there is no obvious problem in viewing the pages. Only that I could not find the folders/files, so that I may not be able to manage the files.
And, the “Miscellaneous” is missing from “Settings”.

You may first try deactivating all plugins and reverting to Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. After that try activating plugins one by one to see if any plugins cause any problems. Once you are sure about these, try solving other problems. If you do not go step by step, the problems that you find can be a result of many factors, confusing, and difficult to locate and solve.

Yes, I will follow your instructions.

    Have a good weekend.

    You are welcome.
