• Hello,

    A completely random question.

I converted my old Greymatter site years ago. And manually entered in a few hundred pre-greymatter posts as well when I had the time between posts. So needless to say the post ID numbers are out of order in groups.

Is there a sql query that will renumber the ID post number based on chronological dates that will not mess other entities up?

    Thanks!

  • I very much doubt it. I would imagine that post numbers are linked to category numbers and they are linked to comments so there could be a lot of breakage.

I wonder if there is a script that would renumber it as well as keeping the comments and categories linked to it.

I hadn’t thought about that mess!

It still would be a nice feature… An “organize” plugin of some sorts…

    Thanks for listening…

Has anyone revisited this? I’ve searched all the prominent search engines and kept coming up with this post. I, as well as many others, would greatly appreciate this type of feature…

I second that. This would be also handy for comment ID renumbering, with the 1000’s of spam comments/day I sometimes have jumps of several hundreds from one valid to the next valid comment.
