• [13-Aug-2012 06:52:29] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_load_translations_early() in wp-includes/functions.php on line 1129″

That is the error that I have run into and I can’t seem to edit my website. I’ve tried all the first instinct maneuvers and none have worked (i.e. restoring backups, disabling plugins, switching themes…). Nothing seems to work.

The problem I am facing is that I can’t log into wp-admin to update my site (it has been close to a week with this problem now). Also, on the front page, the time is stuck (17 hours old for a 4 day old post now) where it was when I ran the initial update that froze everything My Site frozen in time (I deleted the .maintenance file, allowed me to see the front page).

Ideas and help would be greatly appreciated. I’m now willing to scrap the website, but I want to be able to keep all the content that I have created over the past year – how can I do that?

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I’ve tried the first three suggestions and it doesn’t appear to have an effect on the website or wp-admin. When I try to switch the theme by changing the name, nothing happens.

How do I go about running the upgrade manually? I’ve seen the file, but it’s empty.

All that did was take me to: HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

Is there something within the Files Manager that I need to do with it?

Your site is not using the Twenty Eleven theme and still has active plugins.

Didn’t realize that they all needed to be done at the same time. So now that I have it working… I tried the 4th step and there are no updates to be done. I have logged in too – all of my content is missing, how do I get that back on here?

Do you have a pre-upgrade database backup?

    Thread Starter JMatt578

    (@jmatt578)

The one I backed up said it was from about 10 hours before I upgraded it. And two others that are for the week and month, but they saved as a later date, so I hope the older two are what the server said they’d be.

    But I think I have a pre-upgrade db backup

…so I tried to restoring the backup, now I’m back to the same old problems…

What version of WordPress were you running before the upgrade?

    Thread Starter JMatt578

Whatever the most current version is.

At this point, whatever happened has effected all of the backups and I can’t restore anything. I think I have to just accept that whatever this was won. And start from scratch, unless you know of a way to recover the old posts…
