during the wordpress install right after the menu where you enter your database name and username and password it bring you to the page where you copy and paste the text into wp-config.php. Well the text flashes for just like one second and disappears. Any idea why it would disappear like that?

  • I waited, hoping someone had specific experience with your problem, but not so far.

In general, I would try using a different browser. But, maybe even first, I would check if you are running the current version of Java. Try the big red button on this page:
    https://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

When you run install program you will have wp-config.php created for you you do not have to copy paste anything.

I just did it the by entering my info in the sample file. That worked.

Also Govpatel. I am not sure what I am doing wrong when installing wordpress but ever single time I have installed wordpress I had to manually create wp-config or like this time edit the sample file and rename it. I am thinking it must be something to do with permissions.

I had to chown (Linux change ownership command) all my WordPress files to www-data before I installed or used WordPress on the server I moved to early this year. www-data was Apache’s ID, as I recall.
