• I recently tried activating a new theme on my webpage https://www.roycehall.co.uk (the theme was pagelines) and now i cannot access the admin page, it just comes up a blank white page on firefox or an HTTP 500 internal sever error on internet explorer. I’ve never used an FTP and i dont know what i can do to be able to log in again! luckily i set the page to ‘coming soon’ whilst editing it, but i really need to be able to get on there! speedy help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Login over FTP and delete the theme. It seems like you already know that that is what you need to do but are trying to avoid it. You can’t. If you can’t get into the site you don’t have a choice. You have to use something that operates outside of the WordPRess framework. That means FTP or something FTP-like, such as the FTP-like file manager usually provided by server back-ends like cPanel.

FTP, using a client like FileZilla, is not much different from the file browsers you see on Windows and Mac. Be careful with it, but don’t be afraid of it either. When something goes wrong FTP is your very best friend.

thankyou, i have downloaded filezilla but the issue is i don’t have the server username and password and am struggling to get hold of the person that does. im guessing there is no other way of finding these out? i cant say i even know who the server is held with!

I can’t help you with the username and password ??
