Adding Second WP Install in SubDir of Main WP Install – Problems with PHP errors

    I have a WP site, and decided to see if I could create a second WP site in a subdirectory off this, to test new templates and so on. I’m not bothered about it not having its own domain for now – it’s just a testbed.

    I managed to create a second mySQL DB, get WP installed into the second site, and upload and install a template. So far so good. Default content appeared

    However, I cannot save any changes to the WP site e.g. save pages, posts, and so on. When I do, I get errors like the following:

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at [MY SITE URL HERE]/public_html/design/eew/wp-content/themes/Creativelife/haku/includes/helper.php:1) in [MY SITE URL HERE]/public_html/design/eew/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 881

    For the main site, WP is installed in a subdirectory to start with, and I wondered if this might be causing some problem? i.e. for the main site:

    WordPress Address URL = https://www.mydomain.com/WPinstall
    Site Address URL = https://www.maydomain.com

    To get to the second site, I have to visit https://www.mydomain.com/WPinstall/SecondWPInstall since this is the server address.

    I hope this makes some sense – is there some problem with what I am trying to do, or will a few tweaks get it working?

  • The error message indicates that unexpected output, usually an error message, is being output by the theme in the /Creativelife/ folder. To get yourself going in the new WordPress, change the Active Theme to the WordPress default theme Twenty Eleven.
