Tried installing LinkedIn button — Now can't access site!

  • I want to add a LinkedIn button to my site (www.pittsburghinhomeseniorcare.com/blog), I copied and pasted HTML code from LinkedIn into either Plugins or Widgets. The site seems to have immediately shut down, as I now get this when trying to access the site as an admin or a visitor:

    The website cannot display the page

    HTTP 500

    Most likely causes:
    ?The website is under maintenance.
    ?The website has a programming error.

    How can I access the site and remove this code that seems to have caused the problem?

  • If you have FTP details, use filezilla to get into your site, find the place where you placed the code and delete it.

    Unfortunately, I don’t know how to get FTP details or use filezilla. How do I find these?

    You can obtain your FTP login details from your host.

    Thanks, feels like I’m getting closer, but now I don’t know who my host is, or how to discover that. I’m failing to connect through Filezilla, probably because I don’t know the host. Also, I’m trying to log on with ftp://pittsburghinhomeseniorcare.com/blog on Internet Explorer and keep getting requests for user name and password. But the user name I use to edit the WP site doesn’t work, neither does logging on anonymously.

    Your host is BlueHost, you can see that if you go to your site. Try to contact them about your issue.

    Your WordPress is showing up as a blank white page. This means you are probably getting an error message, but it’s hidden. You can go into your Bluehost cPanel to click on Error Logs to try to see it there. Or you can set your errors to show on your website directly by editing a file in your account called php.ini and making sure that display_errors=On and not Off.
