• Hey folks. I’m using WordPress to run a website for a local live theatre organization. When there’s not a show running, I’ve got production photos in the header image space, set to cycle randomly. But when a production opens, I’d love to be able to tell WordPress to only draw from this set of header images (photos from the current show only). I can fudge this at the moment by deleting the old header images, but when the show closes I have to re-upload all of them. It would be far simpler if WordPress provided me with the option to organize my headers into albums or sets, and then could be told to use either All or [Set] to randomize from.

If there’s already a way to do this, please let me know. Otherwise, have a nice day!

  • I think this is definitely plugin territory. Have you looked at plugins like https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/cimy-header-image-rotator/

That’s cool, but it’s not quite what I’d like to do. I’m not looking to change the way that header images currently work (i.e. a random one is selected each time a page loads), I’m looking to narrow the pool from which a random image is selected. Whether that means organizing header images into sets or managing the “Header Image” flag in the media library is irrelevant – either or both would be fine.

With that plugin, as with all plugins I’ve found, you can’t narrow the pool very much, if at all, without deleting the ones you don’t want to use off the webserver. Don’t get me wrong: If deleting the ones I don’t want to use at the moment is the only way to make it work, I’ll do it. But if there were a better way, I’d be happier.

Offhand, I don’t know of a plugin that allows this kind of toggling capability. Doesn’t meant that there isn’t one out there – just that I’ve not come across one yet.

You might be able to create a coded solution but I don’t think it would be a simple one. ??

Hi since this is a header topic and I think I have a header problem please allow me to post a question about a problem I’m having.

If you visit https://www.athenatechs.com I migrated my old website into the new domain.

Now when I visit the site the Browser Tab displays Finger Monkey Wire (old site domain name) on the athenatechs.com url? I have looked at all the wordpress core files used search and replace in the database to remove the fingermonkeywire url just don’t understand why this is happening.

    Any help would be appreciated.
