So far this seems like a kick ass plugin.

One problem I’ve got – if I choose the “calendar” view as the default then I get a 404 on https://www.myblog.com/events/

I thought this was related to my theme but I’m test driving it in Twenty 10 and 11 now. Could be a plugin, I do have Yoast SEO running, so who know there. Not quite ready to start nuking things at this point, anyone have experience seeing this error?

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/

EDIT – okay, I deactivated Yoast too, and the problem still persists, so not sure where this is coming from.

EDIT 2 – What’s particularly odd is that my default “Events page” shows really limited data. It’s obviously fighting somehow with another template… like, there’s no toggle for cal view, there’s no event info, just the description as if it were a regular blog post.
    – I’d blame this on my theme but the same thing happens in Twenty 11!

ONE MORE EDIT – Then i’m going to bed…

When I choose a page template under the “templates” tab it *ONLY* affects the single event pages. It does nothing to the main event page. Could this be related?

Any concepts here? It seems pretty odd as I’ve run this on a pretty vanilla site and still see the problem. Uninstall and re-install?

Hey Nickaster; could this be as simple as just requiring a permalinks flush after activating the plugin? I’ve found that when I activate, if I see a 404 right off the bat it is rectified by merely re-saving the Permalinks page. Could that do the trick for you here?

Hmm… well, I’ve cleared cache a couple times. Still no luck.

Not really sure what “permalinks flush” means….

One more theory… Before playing with “The Events Calendar” I installed All-in-One calendar: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/

But I found it way to inflexible for what I needed. So I deleted it.

So… any chance that the earlier installation screwed something up in the database that the uninstall didn’t clear it?

Hey again Nick. By “flushing permalinks” I just meant resaving them; doing so flushes your old permalink settings and there are a number of issues related to the plugin that flushing these can resolve. If you haven’t tried that yet I’d say give it a go.

It is definitely possible that the All-in-One-Calendar posed a conflict. We’ve heard reports of conflicts with the All-In-One-SEO plugin, and so if that same offending code is still in their Calendar it’s possible the same issue could occur here. What happens if you set up a fresh install…does this persist?

Last one I wanted to check on, Nick. Please let me know if you are still having problems here or if you feel it’s appropriate to mark this RESOLVED.

Rob, thanks a ton! I’m not sure, I’m working with someone and he’s still tinkering with it so I’m not sure where things stand. I’m forwarding all of these over to him… hope to hear soon.

Sounds good, Nick. I’ll keep an eye on this thread for the next little while and will leave it open for now. If at some point a resolution is reached here, let me know and I’ll close this out.

Thanks Rob. Looks like we’re good. It was a conflict with another plugin. Looking forward to getting this going.

Great to hear you’re set, Nick! I’m going to mark this thread Resolved but please let us know if you need anything else down the road. If you find yourself enjoying the plugin once you’ve had a chance to fully jump into it, we definitely would appreciate a positive review or a “Works” vote here on the dot-org forum.

Thanks again for using the plugin.
