• I’m sure this may have been answered before but I can’t find it.

I want to remove the page name (Home) and the white space beneath the banner header. I’m computer aware and have dabbled with php, html and even Javascript years ago, but am blank as far as CSS is concerned.

Can anyone help in layman’s (or laywoman’s) terms please?

Have you a Custom CSS plugin?

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. First create a child theme for your changes.

Thanks both. No, Andrew, I don’t have a custom css plugin. There seems to be dozens of them. Do I need one?

As mentioned above, yes, you need to use a plug-in for custom CSS or a child theme — for the reason esmi stated and so that all of your changes are not overwritten when WP is updated. If you are going to make more than just CSS changes on your site, you need a child theme. Sounds like setting it up should not straightforward for you.
