WordPress creating URL's of pages that do not exist

    Hi all,

    I ran a report of URL’s that my site was creating and i discovered a LOT of URL’s like this:

    https://www.example.com/?fp=jweNI893KO43fa02nami589AfFS4oIA4OPNfs%2O43fa02ni4oIA4OPNam589AfFSs%3D%3D&prvtof=T8ujxE%ad465h5hKKGAAWqq7j68k%3D&poru=%8u32rhjOPUHIA23441FDRSkuioy5%3D%3D

    Does anyone know what is causing this as I think it’s creating a duplicate content issue?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – I only had 1 plugin activated that I have running on around 30 other websites I own and never had issue with. I deactivated it for now to see.

    – I switched to the default theme already, we’ll see how that works.

    I worked out that these URL’s still exist in Google’s index from whomever owned the domain previously.

    This is causing Google to look at the root of my site through any of those URL’s since those pages no longer exist.

    Is there any way to forward those old URL’s that begin with a /? to a 404 page?
