Password Recovery email denied

    • INTRO:

    It’s been probably 3 months since I last logged in to my website (lizlundberg.com) and worked in the back end. Naturally I’ve reformatted both my computers in that time and cannot find my login information. The USER name was always just “admin”, but I don’t recall the password.

      THE PROBLEM:

    The only email address that I could POSSIBLY have used to reset my password with is not being accepted. Just to be sure, I’ve tried all my other email addresses, and none of them worked either. This really sucks! I’ve written several articles, and I am finally ready to actually DO something with the site, and I’m locked out, with apparently no shot at getting locked back in.

      How You Can Help Me:

    1) I tried my control panel, but can’t get in there either. If I COULD get in, I’m wondering if I could find my wordpress password information among the settings there. Cuz I can always call Hostgator and get help with that.
    2) If going through my control panel can’t work, would anyone here be willing to guide me step by step through a technically more difficult ways to get myself back into my site? I’d be happy to paypal someone a few bucks for their time, if that’s what it takes. I’m fairly computer literate, but this is a bit over my head, from what I’ve read of older posts on this topic.

    Thanks, that’s very thoughtful of you. I could still use some information on how to use it. I mean, I can get the script, but where do I place it to make it work, and how to I get access to the place I have to place it? Can anyone help me with this part?

    1. Download the emergency.zip file to your PC. Note where it is saved.
    2. Unzip the zip file.
    3. Use ftp or a File Manager from your hosting service to upload emergency.php to your site in the same folder with index.php.
    4. Start the file by entering the address in your browser. If your site is ‘yoursite.com’, enter ‘https://yoursite.com/emergency.php’.
    5. Fill in the required boxes and click ‘Add User’.
    6. Use the username and new password you entered to log in to your site.
    7. Delete emergency.php to prevent anyone else from using it.
