Are you using a Genesis child theme? That is one requirement for this plugin to work.

I am using the Genesis framework with the Genesis Agency child theme. I played around with the plugin extensively yesterday and there was a ton of wonkiness with it. I think that it either doesn’t work properly with the most recent version of Genesis or is just completely incomparable with the child theme. Nothing worked as it should and more disturbingly it was very very inconsistent. I was able to have just posts from a certain category show up – sometimes – other times those same settings didn’t work at all.

I just tested with Agency using Genesis 1.8.2 and it works perfectly. Please post a link to your site.

I’m seeing output, I’m assuming that the output is wrong?

What should be happening and what exactly is happening?

I can’t explain it. I uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled the CSS that Jetpack allows me to overwrite and now it seems to be working. Wow. I’m going to mess with it some more. Seems to be working good.

Have you noticed any problems with running more than one instance on the same page?

I haven’t I’ve used multiple instances on the same page without any trouble. It may have been corrupted in the original install. It does happen on occasion.

It seems to be working a lot better since re-installation. I do notice some of the functions won’t work. For instance, when I tell the widget to display any post or page and then specifically give it page IDs, it won’t display the posts. Also, when I tell it to display posts in random order it still serves them up in the same order every time.

I can get it to display all posts of a certain category right now – which is really what’s most important right now to me but would love to be able to randomly coming pages and posts.

On paper, this plugin looks like the only one I need for content display through widgets.

IF you want to specify multiple posts or pages you won’t be able to select a specific page. Only use the post by ID field.

Interesting. I think the catch is that posts have categories and tags while pages have none. What I would love to have a common identifier for certain pages and posts (what they have in common) and just use that. I think this is more of a shortcoming of WP than anything else. The pages are really not meant to mix with the posts (which makes sense on some levels).

The issue with the random posts makes sense since I created those dummy posts within minutes of one another. The randomizer seems to play off the created date. I will try to modify those dates and see if that changes things. I doubt if hostgator has disabled the random feature mentioning in that link you sent me.

Since I downloaded the new WordPress update, I can no longer pick the pages I need to link to. A small selection appears, but as I scroll down, the section times out. Happens if I scroll down the pages to select, or if I use the directional arrow…..
Help……I love the plugin and need to finish my site.

If you play at resizing the WP admin window you can get the drops downs to stay put long enough to select them. A larger window is better I think.
