I updated Bad Behavior on my site and it totally disappeared. I went in with Text Wrangler and renamed the bad behavior folder, site reappeared. Went to plugins where there was a message that BB deactivated as some resources missing, deleted it. I’ve fixed my problem (tho without BB anymore).

But it seems like something is wrong with the recent update… just letting you know.

Error is in line 94. If file is

    Must be
    “Nikto/”, // vulnerability scanner

@mojportal same parse error line here.
I can’t activate the plugin now.
    site still visable.

I have the same issue. I simply went to update the plugin and now my site is completely down! I am pretty much a rookie in regards to the website thing and really need assistance with this. WTF do I do now?

If you have another access to your site (on the c-panel of your web host? using a program like TextWrangler or Fetch or etc?), go to public html, then your url, then wp-content, then plugins. You should see the Bad Behavior plugin there as a folder. Just renaming the folder will disable the plugin.

Then my site was up and fine.

I am viewing my file manager now via Media Temple. I have found the folder for the plugin. However, when I click on edit it only gives me the option to edit the URL for that folder. I do not see an option to rename the folder itself. Again, I am somewhat a newbie so I don’t know if renaming the folder is the same as changing the URL or not, but I don’t want to mess anything up. Still lost with this one….In the meantime, my site is down….

Disclaimer: I am NOT responsible if you screw up your site! (I can’t see what you see, I can’t tell if you understand my suggestions the way I meant them, etc, etc)

That said: write down exactly what it says is the url (so you can change it back, if you have to).

Then, change it. Change only the “bad-behavior” part, nothing else (if it gives you a long string of stuff, for example). Try changing “bad-behavior” to “old-bad-behavior” –leave the rest alone, just as it is.

That did it. Thank you! So, what do I do now that I can get back into my site? Should I just delete the plugin?

I just deleted the plugin using the plugins panel in WordPress.

I’m hoping the plugin author will find these posts and fix the problem.

My own plan is to reinstall the plugin once I’ve heard it is fixed: it seems like a good plugin, and in a couple of years of use this is the first problem I’ve had.

Yeah, I just did the same thing. Thanks again so much for your help on this! ??

    You’re welcome.

Hi Guys-I have the same problem, but where do you get TextWrangler or Fetch? I am a complete novice. HostGator won’t help me. I go to PHP Admin & get to databases but don’t see where I can edit bad behavior/

You need to find the files for your WordPress installation, not the database.

TextWrangler is free, Fetch can be used on a trial basis, there are many other such programs, try searching the names in your favorite search engine.

    Never mind-found it-thanks

sure would have been nice had the jack arse that developed this would have provided a little assistance!
