[Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com

  • Hey there, I am very new to the whole web design thing (2 weeks of experience) but I have figured out pretty much everything that has went wrong or wasn’t compatible on the website. However, this Jetpack error is something I can’t figure out. I followed the Jetpack support instructions about deactivating everything, trying a different theme, and checking the XMLRPC file. My webhost is the media guy who was here before me, but according to the stuff I looked at, PHP5 and everything is supported.
    Here is my error:

    Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.

    Failed to connect to 72.233.2.58: Permission denied

    And here is the website:

    What have I not tried or what is there that I can do?

  • You need to contact your web hosts about this.

    You have to check whether or not, your server host allows you to connect to other servers.
    If your plugin Askimet runs fine (because it needs to connect to other servers to run), then it’s Jetpack.

    Check your settings in Settings -> General. Is the Site URL and WordPress Address URL https://www.whyisgodmadatme.com/ or 72.233.2.58?

    both are https://www.whyisgodmadatme.com/

    You have to check whether or not, your server host allows you to connect to other servers.
    If your plugin Askimet runs fine (because it needs to connect to other servers to run), then it’s Jetpack.

    Emailed him, no response of course. Will be calling sometime today or tomorrow.
