    Hi Ludwig,

    thanks for your answer.

I have to categorys of posts:

    1) News
    2) SEO Texts

I would use your plugin to post my NEWS to facebook.

The second category Seo Texts are populated automatic by another plugin “csv-2-post” with full automatic: 20 posts per day.

Your auto-poster plugin was configured to only post NEWS category posts to facebook, but also posts the SEO Text category posts to facebook.

    Best regards,
    kai

hi! i’m seeing this bug too. i have two categories, syndicate and Uncategorized. only syndicate is checked, but Uncategorized posts are also broadcast.

    i’m posting via XML-RPC.

Me too – I have 500+ categories but only want one category to be posted to the social networks. Posts are made manually in the categories. I have only one category ticked in the settings page yet whenever an author posts in any category the post is spread to all my social networks.

    Here is how it works:

When you create your post manually there is a list of configured Social Networks with checkboxes. All the “excluded” category does is unchecking of all “Post to this network” checkboxes when selected. Selecting any “included” category after that will check them back.

    You can try it:

    1. Go to the Posts->New Post
    2. Notice all checboxes checked in the “NextScripts: Social Networks Auto Poster – Post Options” meta box.
    3. Select any excluded category. Notice all checkboxes become unchecked.
    4. Select any included category, checkboxes become checked again.

    Hope this will clear it.

thanks for the reply! that makes sense for posts created through the wordpress UI, but what about XML-RPC? when i create new posts via XML-RPC, they always get broadcast, regardless of this setting and the categories i set on the posts.

any chance you could fix that? or would you accept a patch? (and if so, is your source control repo publicly accessible? i haven’t managed to find it.)

Regarding XML-RPC and other automates ways.

Our plugin is hooked up to the event when post status is being changed to “Published”. At that point plugin checks the post categories. If this post belongs “only” to the excluded category it won’t be auto-posted.

In all other cases (for example if the post belongs to both the “excluded” category and “included” category it will be auto-posted.

Some plugins and automated post creators do weird things. For example they create new post without any category information and then assign categories to the already published post. SNAP will auto-post in such cases, because at the moment of post becoming published it wasn’t assigned to the excluded category.
