[CataBlog] Category: Limited to five items?

Hello bouke, the code is correct. I am wondering if you have made sure that all the items have a unique order number? Also remove the limit=50 to see if all items are displayed.

All items have a unique order number. They are numbered 1 – 14 (I checked it numerous of times).

For the category ‘Eettafels’ the list looks like this (I left out the image):

On the page ‘Tafels’ I got the following:
[catablog category="eettafels"]

I only see five items. I also checked the page source (in Firefox) to see if there’s something hidden (but there isn’t).

I couldn’t find out what the issue is. Item ’14, Eettafel (kruisblad in verstek)’ is not being listed on the page ‘Eettafels’. I do not know what to do/try next. I hope that you could help me further.

I don’t dare to give the URL to the web site because somebody could see this as undesirable. Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks in advance for your help (really appreciated).

I made a back-up file (XML):
catablog-backup-2012-10-31.xml.

Hello boukej, lets try something different. Use the following shortcode.

[catablog template="gallery"]

Let me know if you see all the items.

Also try the following:

CataBlog >> Options >> System, here you have 2 options try both rescan and regenerate.

Has this problem occurred from the first time you installed CataBlog? Or has it happened recently when you installed or updated a plugin?

I just tried:

This works great! All 14 items are being displayed.

I also tried:
[catablog template="default"]

And that also works like it should! All 14 items are being displayed.

I also tried:

[catablog template="gallery" category="eettafels"]
[catablog template="default" category="eettafels"]

And that displays five of six items.

Rescan and Regenerate (under Options, System) did not help.

This problem is there since I installed the plugin. I did never update the plugin. I’ve got version 1.6.3 installed. I use WordPress 3.4.1.

I tried both shortcodes but it lists only five ‘tafels’ (‘tafels’ is Dutch for ‘tables’ like ‘dinner tables’ or ‘garden tables’).

Hello boukej, can you delete item number 14 and create a new item.

Also have you considered updating to WordPress 3.4.2? It is always advisable to run the latest WordPress version for stability and security reasons.(This could resolve your issue. I always advice people to run the latest version of WordPress.) One more action make sure you make a backup of your website and database if you are going to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress just in case something goes wrong.

I removed item #14 and re-created it. This does not solve the problem.
I also updated to WordPress 3.4.2. This does not solve the problem.

I tried [catablog template="gallery" limit="9999"] and that shows all items in gallery mode (also item #14).

When I change [catablog category="eettafels"] to [catablog template="gallery" category="eettafels"] it also displays five items…

What to do now? Any suggestions?

Hello boukej sorry to hear that the solution has not been found yet. What I think is happening is that you have a conflict between 2 plugins or more. Since you mention above that this problem has been there since you installed the CataBlog plugin.

The only way to test my theory would be to disable all the plugins and do a test, plugin after plugin.

Thank you for your help. I will hunt the conflicting plugin(s) down when I got more time. I found a workaround that also suits my needs. I decided to create extra categories (like Eettafels 1, Eettafels 2, et cetera).

Hello Bouke J. that is good news. I am glad to know that you found a workaround.

If you feel this issue is resolved with your workaround, could you close it. If not then leave it open and let me know if it was a plugin causing this problem.

Your theme may also be the culprit. You most likely have some line of PHP code in a plugin or your theme that is hard setting the number of items returned for all WordPress post queries.

I cannot tell you exactly where to look, but I would check out your theme’s functions.php file and also try disabling other plugins.
