Excerpts not showing after upgrade to 2.0

  • I just finished upgrading from 1.5.2 to 2.0.

    I have been putting Excerpts of my articles in the little box at the top, then using the <–MORE–> tag at the beginning of each article so that only my Excerpts would show on the front page.

    After I upgraded to 2.0, its no longer showing the Excerpts on the front page. I went through all the options but couldn’t seem to find an option that relates directly to this.

    How can I get my excerpts to show again on the front page?

  • Excerpts and the more quicktag are two differentthings! I wonder you could use them both in WP 1.5.x in the manner you just described.

    Excerpts will apear ONLY if your template file (index, archive, whichever) is using the the_excerpt and not the the_content.
    Meanwhile the <more> quicktag is independent of the_excerpt tag and it works with the_content – if and where you insert it, it will break the text.

    Hey, cool. I had this old system setup from an even earlier version of WordPress because it wasn’t showing stuff the way I wanted at the time. I had carried it into 1.5.x and hadnt realized.

    So I switched to the_excerpt() and now everything is Ok.
