• I know there are hundreds of PHP & MySql related sites I can post this question on but I love the ever so helpful WP forum & Users. Ok with that said I really feel I need to upgrade my skills and learn php this years. I am running windows 2000 and would like to make my current machine a practice web/php/mysql server so I dont have to practice scripting on my paid hosting. Has anyone done this? Would the way to go be to DL Apache, PHP 4.3.4 installer & Mysql or is their an all-in-one open source software that does this?

  • I am on WinXP and I have installed Apahce, PHP and MYSQL many times before. It is quite easy. Just follow the instructions.

If you prefer the easy way (not that installing Apache, PHP and MySQL is difficult, mind you!), you could try EasyPHP. It will install all three on your computer and offer you an administration interface through your web browser.
There are other similar packages out there, too.

You might want to check out https://www.foxserv.net/ .

I will first install Apahce, followed by PHP, then configure Apache and PHP then finally MYSQL. MYSQL is standalone so it do not need any configuration.

Well, I run a Win2k Pro box at home, installed MySQL (actually was left over from another experiment of running PHP through IIS… don’t recommend that)…. then I installed Apache2, then installed PHP on top of that. It works great.
